me and my wii

wii
Last week the family procured a Nintendo Wii system.(thanks terri, eric and johnathan!) It took me until thursday to play it since Emliy surprisingly doesn’t enjoy watching me meticulously unbox new electronics and move old systems around (sorry gamecube) rewire bits and generally set things up in a neat and orderly manner, tho I’ll have to admit that my solution for the systems in the cabnet beside the TV has its faults the excitement of the Wii kind of overshadowed everything else.

Let me say that this system is a dream to set up. 3 sets of cords to plug in, the RCA, Wii sensor bar and the powerblock. The system itself is quite small and takes up literally no space when used vertically in the provided stand. With the Wii set up on wednesday, thursday was my first play night.

I’m going to have to give it up to nintendo while the system boots fast the one thing I noticed is that there is no launch screen, I was so accustomed to the Gamecube start up screen that I was really looking forward to seeing the Wii start up. Sadly I’m only greeted with a warning not to smash myself or others around me.

The menu system that was developed for the Nintendo DS are in my opinion brilliant. Simple clean and to the point. You can navigate everything so simply. This still holds true to the Wii and while I would have loved to see the two systems share common design cues I can easily be swayed. Set up consists of naming your system entering the date and time. Online set up was simple since I have an open network at home it picked up the wireless signal no problem and I found myself with a set up and newly updated system in about 15 min.

So far the system is great, both Jen and I are highly addicted to bowling while golf seems to be our least favorite sport. I’m getting the hang of boxing but it will take some time getting used to and figuring out all the combinations for the different punches, for seemingly simple concepted games there are alot of intricate things built into each of the sports.

I’m attempting to play the wii for a half hour each day to see if it affects my fitness level, I’ve been bitten by the Wii workout bug and while I type this with the sorest body I’ve had for a long time I’ve been playing through the pain to try and keep my wii sports age low, after an injury filled weekened I’m back up to 35 while on friday i was as low as 26.

we’ll definitly see how this thing goes.

Its been a bit since i blogged on the personal tip. Most times I’m trying hard enough to blog on exclusives™ and I rarely like to mention any personal news most of you might not already know. Plus I’ve been updating the em-bot site with loads more pictures and I WAS getting my relax on with a nice break over the holidays.

Part of me wishes I could tell you whats going on with things but part of me wants none of you to know and if you do know its cause I personally told you whats up. Got some surprisingly big things in store for the 2007 season of drew and company. more work, loads more fun and hopefully by the summer time a skatimg comeback and finally lacing BS Royals like… well actually lacing them.

What I’m upto….

SO things have been quite busy and like may of my blog posts I’ll try and sum them up in the best possible way starting right now….

Work is hecktick, I’m in the middle of setting up a mother of a site for one of our clients, its truly a daunting task I hope it can get off the ground there are so many intricate levels to this site that I hope it comes out working.

Tomorrow I head up north to do some prelim specing for a video shoot coming up in the next few weeks, should be a nice day venture then back to the city.Might prove to be fun.

The kid is well on her way, while we were in NYC my dad finished painting the room, and I should post some pics shortly on the peanut blog. In the meantime we are busy picking out names which is taking along time cause there are quite a few girl names I’m stoked on. Plus we have all this great kid stuff I want to start building but we are getting the floor re-finished in the kids room so once that is done we can start building things.

NYC was awsome I wish we could have stayed longer, I suppose I should post some pics from that too.

Home work is taking longer than expected, I have to finish the kismet films site which I put on hold for a while, same with teh maple racing site, comps are done but I need to photograph stuff with paul so that still needs to be done. Plus there is the constant updates to the dance site and the skateshop these things keep me busy, if only I could make a living off helping friends.

My new skates have sat unskated for about a month now, its a damn shame cause I really want to skate but the days I find that I have the time the weather tells me its too wet outside… Damn.

Exclusives™ v2.0 is in the works some new site styling plus more linking goodness plus I’m sure there are some Exclusive™ things in the works, but more on that later. That and I should reallly get around to getting Another™ up and going but thats going to be a while.

Thats it in a nutshell, oh and I bought a copy of maya off of ebay and need to install that when I get a chance, should prove to keep me busy when the kid is up till all hours in the morning, ah I’m not busy at all.

damn

Shaolin Training

shaolin

Growing up I got kinda into martial arts, there was a studio down the road from my parents house in an industrial complex that I attended for about 2 years. I got out of doing karate and ju jitsu in favor of getting a job at the shoe store. But before I left the dojo I had a chance to take some kung fu classes. It would be your typical old man taining you, his sense of humor strangly funny lead the class. I really got into kung fu more that I had with karate and ju jitsu and quickly found myself only attending the kung fu classes and skipping the karate. I always found it to be more enjoyable of a class, my body felt better doing the motions and forms of kung fu.

For years I’ve always meant to get back into it, but since my first experience was so enjoyable I didn’t want to try another dojo, part of the appeal was that it was right down the street withing easy walking distance. Now that I’m no longer at home I cant see myself driving to take a class. But yesterday while in Chapters I saw a familiar face, it was that of Sifu Shi Yan Ming. A 34th generation shaolin monk. I had seen him on TV on TLC or discovery and was always intrigued by his studio in NYC and the story of his life. So I picked up his book. The Shaolin Workout : 28 Days to Transforming Your Body and Soul the Warrior’s Way I started reading last night, I can honestly say the book has already put great thoughts into my head and I look forward to taking on kung fu again. Even tho alot of the training will be solo I’m pretty confident that I’ll remember much of what I had learned before and that I can get my body polished as they say in the book and regain my energy and self confidence. I’m stoked on this.
